Notebooks are fantastic tools if you need a mobile, portable computer for work, school, or college. They are bigger and heavier than netbooks, but have a better capability than their smaller counterparts, so that is a definite advantage. Portability is not a problem, just stick them in a bag and away you go.
Most gadgets and electronic goods are a nightmare to learn how to use unless you are a whiz with finely printed instructions that cover far too many pages. Notebooks, fortunately, do not fall into this category – if you are comfortable with a PC, you will have no problems using a notebook. The only really obvious difference is the lack of a mouse; a touchpad or a track pad are the usual means of navigating round a page, and are quite easy to get used to. If, however, you find you really cannot get on with these, then you can attach a mouse externally.
Notebooks really are an excellent alternative to a PC. For a start, you can take them anywhere, and if you need the Internet there are many providers who can give you mobile access, as well as many places offering free WiFi. The fact that you do not need a computer desk to work with Notebooks is another bonus; they are so portable it makes them a joy to use and a very real alternative to your PC, even if you are at home.
Notebooks are capable of reading and writing CDs and DVDs, are able to copy and transfer data using Bluetooth devices, and communication has never been easier than now with built in microphones and webcams.
If you were to compare like with like across price range, Notebooks tend not to be as powerful as the traditional
PC, but they are certainly as capable at performing all the same tasks and functions, though you should think about what you actually want from your notebook because there is quite a range of them on the market, covering a variety of prices and capabilities. As the popularity of Notebooks continues to rise, though, the price of them is falling quite nicely.
The durability of Notebooks has improved, too. It would appear that the ever increasing popularity of Notebooks has made manufacturers toughen them up – the last thing they want is be the creator of a model that gets bad press when there is so much demand and competition. This is all good news for the consumer.
A lot of people choose to have Notebooks as an alternative computer to their PC; one they can use when mobility is a necessity. There is no doubt that having a notebook as well as a PC gives you confidence if you rely on a computer for work or study and your PC lets you down. The popularity of Notebooks, though, is that they are fast becoming many people’s only computer, much in the same way that cell phones are replacing land lines.
